Dec 21, 2010  Installing files East Asian Languages When I inserted my Microsoft Office XP Professional disk in my computer to install the files for East Asian languages, my computer still said I needed to insert the disk. Try out Control Panel -> Region and Language -> Administrative Tab -> Change System Locale and then set the region and language there. If this doesn't work, try changing the default keyboard. Other than that, Win7 seems to have been easier to set up with Japanese (my East Asian language) than WinXP was.

Back in Windows XP we had an option to install those fonts. How to do so in the newest version of Windows?

Chinese characters aren't rendered in my notepad nor in setup applications.

  • When you try to install files for East Asian languages, you are asked for a Windows XP installation disk. These days, Windows comes pre-installed, so few people have a real Windows XP disk. Here’s how to install without the DVD/CD-ROM.
  • I am trying to install east asian languages and be able to switch imput languages between english and chinese. I have XP Home Edition on my Dell 8250 which came pre-installed. When I try to install the east asian languages it says to insert the CD. I only have the re-installation CD that came with the computer and it says it cannot copy the files.
  • At the bottom of that window there’s a check box labeled “Install files for East Asian languages”. Click that check-box, and click OK on the pointless file size warning that comes up. Then click the Apply button in the main window. This will then attempt to install East Asian Languages support.
  • If you have Windows XP installation disc, you can install the East Asian Language Pack by loading the disc. However, if the disc is not available, here is a third party website which provides the cplexe.exe file.
  • D Installing East Asian Language Support Files for Windows XP. Depending on your system, you may be prompted a second time to insert your installation CD. If so, browse to DRIVE: i386 where DRIVE represents the location of the installation media. When asked to restart your computer, click OK.

If you don't have Windows 7 Ultimate or Enterprise, you can change your system locale to the language you are missing, then change it back to English. The missing language will stay installed even after you change back to English.
